What is Fontris Alts?
An independent research and ratings service for perpetual alternative investment funds — the non-traded REITs, BDCs, interval funds, and tender-offer funds that advisors are increasingly asked to place client money into. We track the full universe fund by fund and publish what the record actually shows: fees, performance, liquidity behavior, distribution quality, and portfolio health.
Who is it for?
Financial advisors doing diligence on a fund they have been pitched, allocators comparing funds within a class, researchers and journalists covering the space, and individual investors who want to see the record before they sign.
Where does the data come from?
The primary record. Every number on the site carries its citation — the specific document it came from, reachable from the number itself. Where a fund's own manager publishes figures the record does not yet cover, those appear only with an explicit manager-source label and are checked against overlapping disclosures before publication. We never estimate, interpolate, or fill a blank with a guess: a value we cannot source is shown as “Not yet compiled,” not invented.
How does the leaderboard work?
Each fund is scored 0–10 on a set of components — fees, performance, distribution quality, liquidity (including how the manager actually behaved under redemption pressure), and, for credit funds, portfolio health — against disclosed peers in the same asset class. The composite is a weighted summary of those components, computed on a fixed, versioned rulebook, and it appears only when every scored component is present: partial coverage is never reweighted into a look-alike score. Hover any score for its plain-language evidence.
Why does a fund have no composite score?
Because at least one required component is not yet scored — usually because the fund's disclosures do not yet support it (a track record too short, a repurchase history too thin, or a peer group below our floor of eight disclosing funds). We show the components that are scored and say plainly which are awaiting evidence. An unscored fund is not a bad fund; it is an insufficiently evidenced one.
How current is the data?
The site refreshes with the disclosure calendar. When a fund reports, its pages and its scores move within days, not quarters, and every figure shows its as-of date.
Do managers pay to be covered or rated?
No. No fund, sponsor, or manager pays for coverage, placement, or scores, and none can. That independence is the point of the site.
What does a free account add?
Accounts are arriving shortly: the full leaderboard beyond the top of each class, custom watchlists built from any funds you choose, and alerts on the funds you follow. A further tier for professional workflows — exports and deeper analytics — will follow.
Is this investment advice?
No. Fontris Alts reports and scores what the record shows. It does not know your situation, does not recommend purchases or sales, and is not a substitute for your own judgment or your advisor's. Funds mentioned here can lose money, restrict redemptions, and change their terms.
